I have had some problems with my EF recently. It seemed to be running on 5cyl at idel yet was running fine at higher revs. We diagnosed several possibly causes and made the following repairs - cat was block/collapsed - removed contents, leaking inlet manifold gasket - gasket changed, changed all plugs and leads, changed ignition module, changed thermstat gasket as it was leaking.

The car runs heaps better now. Only problem is that it runs fine for first 5 minutes of driving then starts to slightly miss or runs rough at low revs (1500rpm or less) idle is not too bad but seems to run rough upwards from idle to 1500-2000rpm.

Any ideas - i cant keep spending money on bits without fixing the actually problem.

I have a new set of injector rubbers to install - maybe this is the problem.
sounds like it might be a cracked manifold gasket probly around 5 or 6
same thing happened to my ef fairmont after plugs leads etc[/list]

I have just replaced the manifold gasket for that resaon. It made it run a lot better but still has slight problem when it gets to operating temp.
