Hi Guys,

I have an annoying issue that is proving very hard to find the cause of.

Once the engine has heated up and after a bit of driving when stopped at a set of lights the idle is at around 600rpm and the oil pressure warning goes and shows low pressure. The oil on the dipstick is at full when check cold before driving and the hoses all appear in good condition no splits

Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

How old is the oil? Is it too thin for a worn motor?

Other things to consider the car is duel fuel primarily running on LPG and getting 330 to 350 km per tank does sound about right?

i had the same problem on my ef xr6 traced the fault to two things
first one is these cars have a problem with bad chassis and battery earths clean all earth points and the run a second earth lead from your battery to the engine block or head also these oil switchs wear out and give low oil pressure put a new switch on i noticed on my vehicle that the oil pressure now reads higher and is steady at idle and the low oil pressure light does not come on when idling in traffic on 40 degree days also my volt meter reads steady and higher your earths poins should read less then 300 mv with the car running and all lights and accesories on with a volt meter attatched from your negative terminal to your block

Why has no one suggested he actually test the oil pressure with master gauge?

that will tell you straight away if it real pressure problem or if its a sender/gauge problem.

I'm interested in this thread because same thing just started happening on my EF.

Engine is in excellent reliable well-maintained condition, burns zero oil between 10K km oil changes. Runs like a clock.

Then the other day stopped at the lights, I got the beeps-and-warning light thing. Oil gauge on the stopper. WTF?!

What I've noticed is happening on the dash gauges is-
when oil pressure gauge drops to near zero, the temp is usually reading much higher than normal, and the volt meter is below 12V. Car has new water pump, new radiator, new thermostat, so cooling sytem is excellent. Battery is brand new, so volts should also not be a problem.

Will check my battery leads for starters and drop line back to report.

i have the same thing i get low oil pressure warnings all the time now. i found out how to get the odometer to go to diagnostic mode and found the signal was coming through fine as it told me i was doing like 2.5 bar when the gaige was showing .5 bar so i have disregarded it. put your odo into diagnostic mode (instructions online) and go to mode 4 then the top line will say something like 23 which is is 2.3 bar of pressure. im going to try and find the cause sometime soon as i like to know the pressure and diagnose problems early.
