I think the old EF is running rich.
I have no idea how to tell (fuel economy is like 16-17l per 100km) You can sometimes smell the unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Just wondering what i have to do to fix this and what may cause it.

maybe time for a new oxygen sensor.

Most probably the aftermarket cam. Ive tried replacing the o2 sensor in mine and hasnt changed anything.
Fuel economy is great on the highway but around town the cam is playing havoc with fuel economy. The only fix i can think of is going to chiptorque and let them play with the AFR's. Ive also heard of fitting an adjustable fuel regulator to fix it but i'd doubt that would work |

oxy sensor probly is worth a try.
mine made a huge difference. otherwise yeah, as said could be the cam. does it blow any black smoke on load? |

AFAIK the cam shouldnt make that much dirrerence. The fuel injection works on a closed-loop feedback system. IE the oxygen sensor tells the ECU how much fuel is needed. The oxygen sensor is a key component in the engine management. My other suggestion would be the map sensor and perhaps manifold air temperature sensors.

Yes the cam CAN cause a difference in fuel consumption. 'Hotted" up cams create a lower manifold vacuum than stock which plays up with the Map Sensor making the ECU squirt in more fuel thinking its under more load than it already is.
And yes the o2 sensor is important and should be replaced first up just to make sure. Although, the o2 sensor is completely ignored by the ECU in full throttle operation and only reads at part throttle. As mentioned, Chiptorque have a pre programmed chip for Falcons with typical engine mods which will fix AFR's. Could even be a faulty map sensor as previously mentioned i guess. |

The cam is only a mild one so it shouldnt make alll that much difference

yeah cam is fairly mild. Not that much more on a ticky cam IMO.
Ill try a MAP and an oxy sensor.

ok might sound silly but.... have you changed the air filter recently?
Dirty air filters can increase fuel consumption by up to 10% or something |

Dirty air filters can increase fuel consumption by up to 10% or something Yeah i been thinking that lately. I usually change it when i do the oil but i blew out my oil pressure switch so i did an oil change then but never did the filter.

my ef chewed up the juice when i first got it
the mechanic cleaned the throttle body & consumption went back to normal something about the ecu measuring the amount of air going in, and having a dirty air volume sensor screws it up

and does it get to temp? s**t thermo and it'll continue to tell the ecu to add fuel
or the map sensor

I have the same problem with a crow mild cam, I think Crow cams do run on std ECUs but very rich.

my ef also runs rich, it has a mild crow cam, but blows smoke at startup, changed fuel pump and injectors, there is a strong smell of fuel in the car in the morning and when driving around normal it miss fires or pops but at high revs its normal does any one know why
