I dont know much about security systems but i work long hours in Westfield Mall with my car parked in their carpark. How effective do you's recon it would be to somehow sabotage your car before your shift commences. eg disconect the battery or something of that nature lol... thief will get a shock

lol... yeah, that would be the flyback transformer - they pack a punch, and can kill!
He probably shouldn't have admitted he had it, and just removed it. What would the thief had said? "I was just checking your door handles to see if they were locked"

iv also heard that all models ED or EF and downwards have a severe acerlies heel in that a well amied kick to a certan spot disables smartlock and the door locking system can anyone confirm this ?
also if u can open the bonnet getting the doors to open in (my eb II at least) takes a matter of seconds and any retard can do it ...im guessing with the doors opening smartlock whould be disabled at the same time? |

Smartlock is a function of the BEM, ECU and Keybarrel. The BEM controls the doors and the smartlock. The doors are a slave to the BEM - they don't tell the BEM to disable smartlock
I wouldn't discount the theory that a blow to a spot can cause it to unlock - its possible, but its very unlikely! It could cause a malfunction in either the ECU or BEM, but you would be very fortunate to have that fault cause the doors to unlock in your favour, AND cause the BEM to signal the ECU that its ok to start. Sounds like an urban legend to me.

best way to do it, and how i'd like to do it is with a rfid tag, put the reciever under the radio/sunglasses holder. leave the tag in my wallet or something.
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... &SUBCATID= have the module activate when the starter circut is active, if the tag is read, the relay works. that way the battery wont run down, and there are no switches or anything like that

I've got one of those, but its the secure one you can program multiple tags to. The range is not bad either (mine does about 100mm), so i'd be weary about that one which only states 6mm - unless its a typo.
Its the other jaycar kit, and costs $80.

i may do that. any ideas what colour the primary side of the starter motor relay wire is and where i can locate it to do this?
with those rfid kits, you have to leave them on all the time or else they deprogram?

The $80 kit holds stored tags after it loses power - no worries there.
Also, it can be configured for momentary or latched operation. Your starter relay is the one closest to the firewall from memory. To check, just remove it and see if it still starts You'll want to use pin 85 or 86 on the relay base to disable the coil of the relay.
