Still comes up on their website. Its $89 now few quick questions there. -whats the range on it? ive got a uni swipy in my wallet i could program in that id use. i just wouldn't want to take it out of the wallet all the time -how have you got it wired in? im thinking between the starter relay and pwr it on the same circut, eg sensor doesnt attempt to read till the starter circut is closed. i'll probably do this in my car and do a doc on it. helps we've got the kill switch docos up now

The range is 100mm from the sensor chip.
I haven't got it installed in my car yet - its assembled in the drawer atm The chip is only connected to the board by 5 wires, so I'd recommend putting the chip and board in separate places for security. Tis would also enable you to maximise its range by where it can be placed. I'll do up an appropriate schematic as soon as I get time.

correction - just measured the range - its 55mm when the tag is held flat along the same plane as the chip. As you rotate the tag through 90 degrees, the distance decreases. At 90 degrees you have to be about 5mm from it.

I've been having a play with the kit, and if there is a valid tab in its proximity when power is applied, the relay will close for 5 second. It seems to act this way quite reliably, although its designed to be powered up continuously.
This would mean its perfect to wire up to the starter signal, so that the tag is read only at crank time. How exactly would you want the circuit to behave? Would you want the above, or would you prefer to only have to swipe your tag/wallet once and then get one ignition cycle? Describe exactly how you would want it to behave.

so only when the starter circut is active. the problem is that if it was on the accesories circut, if you left your wallet say over the sensor, it'd might burn out the relay or do something wierd.
but thats how i'd do it. really, all i need todo this now is several 30hr days, what colourd wires the primary relay is and where, and more $$$. but its on the todo list

Just found this:
http://secure.oatleyelectronics.com//pr ... cts_id=277 $28 - a lot cheaper! They also stock brand new electric window winders for $18!!!!!!!! I just ordered 4 of them, and if all goes well, i'll have 4 door power windows shortly for only $72 Just have to reposition the manual winder, mate it with the motor and presto.

Just saw this thread, over here a while a go my old ladies ef was stolen out of her driveway, turns out it was used in a major armed robery, as when we reported it stolen, the cops made an effort to get to our place quickly! (for once). Anyway, back to the story, it was an organised crime sindicate and the b*stards had a master key, you all know the funny looking falcon key, that could open up and start any ef/el falcon. We got the car back, no damage, no forced locks, no forced ignition, no stripped wires.
To prevent that happening on mine, i had a kill switch, but was a pain in the a**, mine was just on the ignition so not hard to get around for someone with half a brain. In the end i got an alarm system put in professionally, (by an auto-sparky mate) which has five different points of immobilisation, including fuel, starter motor... plus all the other sensors and whistles that alarms come with. Security tints will also help, though they are breakable, just take more effort. Pretty much though if someone wants my car bad enough they will need to tow it or push it. |

there is no such thing as a "master key" that can unlock every tibbe lock....

If your lock is worn to buggery, every key is a master key!
(Except for the one thats suppose to work it - ironically)

(Except for the one thats suppose to work it - ironically) ive tried heaps of tibbe keys (worn or not) in heaps of locks and ive never found one that works....theyre heaps better than the old pin tumbler locks

On a key by key basis they are better, a lot less prone to wear, but they are a lot easier to pick with an easy to make tool - simply because they are not spring return.
