Hi members, car has just developed a miss and vibration, treated injectors with chemtec injector cleaner within the last 300klms.Car was running fine before this, pull plugs out.5 are almost spotless and 1 has light tan but moist look about it,closes 1 to the rear fire wall.New leads about 20000klms ago.Advice welcome.

spotless as in shiny clean plugs may indicate a leaking head gasket as the coolant in combustion chamber steam cleans the plugs. Is the car using coolant?has it lost power?Does the exhaust have steam coming out of it even after car has warmed up?Poor idle/miss?All indicate leaking head gasket.

Not spam, not post whoring, sorry but yes problems. NO plugs white but light tan and dry(normal) on the first five from the front, last plug light tan and a little moist, have pull of injector connection on this cylinder and makes no differnce .Also pulled connection off of 1st front and engine wants to run sick, checked at separate times. Also temp gauge moves up and down a little. while driving about ten klms down the road.In need of some answers thanks.Darrel M.

sounds like injector number 6 is not firing..injector may be blocked or faulty, fuel rail may be blocked near injector number 6,or you may have an electrical problem with injector wiring or within ecu itself. Also check that number 6 spark plug is servicable/working and check resistance of number 6 spark plug lead is not too high and that it is fitted to coil pack properly.
As you state that this problem started after using chemtec injector cleaner, try adding a known quality brand of injector cleaner(NULON has consistently given me the best results, valvoline injector cleaner actually made my car run worse) and see if it helps. |

Does it smell of fuel? Does the car miss or run rougher when you disconnect No 6 plug? If it does, you either have a stuffed plug or stuffed lead. 2) a) As asked before, is the car using coolant? b) Does it blow water vapour/mist even after it warms up? c) How many Km on the motor? d) Has the head been done before? e) Does the coolant header tank smell of exhaust gases? f) How does your oil look? Is it milky? Ask these question because No 6/No 5 is where the head gaskets go with these. 3) Temp issue could be your thermostat opening and closing. Could need replacing. What temp does your car normally run at> |

Doubt it will be the coil pack as when they go you will loose 2 plugs getting spark.
Could be a partially blocked injector. Does it miss fire at idle? |

SWC wrote: Is it attached to the Coil Pack properly. Yes as far as i can push the damn lead on,remembering that the car was running fine on a 40 klm trip to town. Then on return drive home after a couple of hours sit, hopped in started car and drove off noticing the car was running with a miss on five cylinders. Has to be coil pack, what else could cause this (mystery) HELP please.Darrel M.
