Ok, not really a problem, but its just started happening last few weeks.
when I go to start the car it used to be 1sec of cranking and it would start, maybe less than 1 second, just a turn and all good. but not its probably taking 2-3 seconds of cranking before it catches. if you only hold it for 1 second it dies, do it again for 1 second it fires straight up. Haven't changed anything recently - did a manual conversion few months back, still using the auto ECU, but its been fine for ages. Doesn't overly bother me, however just trying to think about what may have changed to make it need a longer cranking time.

I had the same issue with my EF, and when winter breezed in it got worse, exhaust gasses were really fumey too, that led me to the injectors, got mine reco'ed and its back to normal, 2 to 3 cranks and it kicks over no problem.

Had the same problem. After trying many things I checked and adjusted the TPS voltage, had to file down the brass bushes to get the adjustment to get the correct voltage reading. (Follow the Base Idle and TPS adjustment sticky in the V8 Forum). Normally you only have to adjust the TPS voltage if you adjust the base Idle because this changes the TPS voltage.

Oh yeah, that explains it. My mates AU on gas takes about that long. Mine starts in about 3 seconds every time.

What exactly did they do when yopu got them reco'd? Was it just an onboard injection service / RCP where they just run the cleaning fluid through you're system, or did they actually take the rail off and directly play with the injectors? I was thinking of chaning my injectors over for higherflowing ones soon anyway. For s**t and giggles. Apparently magna one's are the way to go, lol

We had an issue on my brothers EF Falcon where it would take a while to start or wouldn't start at all despite cranking for ages.
Turned out to be the crank angle sensor was caked with old oil and greese, and once i degreased it the car started first go. It seems EF's will NOT start if they don't get a correct reading from the crank angle sensor. |
