Hi guys,
I have an issue with my thermo fans - maybe How many "Stages" are there in the fan activations? When you first turn on the engine from cold, they aren't on - then it gets warmer and they come on slow, then are supposed to go on full speed at higher temps, correct? Does anyone know what temps the fans should be working in what combinations or speeds? My temp has been reaching 100 celcius frequently. The guage still reads in the mid-high normal range, but the fans never reach full speed. I can unplug the Temp sensor to make the dash read 130 degrees instantly, then the fans come on full speed. At least I know the EEC is capable of turning them on, but shouldn't this be happening earlier than 100 degrees? I just put in another thermostat to see if that was the problem (cooling wise) - an 82 degree - but the temp still rises on a hot day. Any help appreciated

Also forgot to ask - Is it true that the fans are supposed to come on full speed whenever the AC is on "A/C MAX"?

I'm not sure what temp each stage should come in at. But if you think about it yours sounds like they are working correctly. Normal running temp is around 95degs. You wouldn't really want them flat out at that point, need to have some spare capacity if temp rises above normal.
As disconnecting the temp sensor drives them flat out at 130degs shows the ECU is doing the right thing. Yes turning on the AC will drive the fans flat out as well.

Hmm... Do the fans start going flat out immediately after turning ac on max, or is there a delay, because I've never heard mine on max with ac on or off, unless I remove the temp sensor plug

I've never took any notice for a delay or not sorry.

When I turn A/C on max or my coolant reaches 100 my fans go to high speed sometimes, other times they stay on low and my temp stays high for aaaaaaaaaages. But if I do the KOEO Fan test they both come on high... Very frustrating...Murphy's Law

EBgizmo... the more i look at mine the more it seems the same as your problem... really annoying me now. I pulled over the other day and tried ur thing, pulling the coolant temp sensor off and instantly both fans come on super high.. dont understand why the hell the ECU wont kick them in at 100degrees, mine never used to get that high, ever
