I've done lots of searching and reading on here, it's a great little helper indeed. I scored an EF wagon the other week.
Anyway I've found that one of my fans doesn't work at all (put 12v straight to it and nothing) and the other one doesn't kick in unless I turn on the ac and fan to boost OR pull the temp sensor wire off. Anyone got an idea of why it wont kick in when it gets hot? It got to half way on the temp guage the other day whilst I let her running outside the bottlo and the coolant boiled and spewed out the overflow so I got a new radiator cap and it stays under pressure now, but the fan still wont kick in itself. |

One thermo runs when the temp reaches a set point or the a/c is turned on, the other runs when the a/c is on max or the temp gets too high. Reason would suggest that the fan that is working for you is the second one I mentioned. You need to replace both fans or just the one that is busted if you can find it separately.
cheers Scott

run diagnostics, think it is the koeo test, and as you change the gear into D or 3 both fans should run.
if they don't, wiggle the wires whilst in diagnostics. If still no luck, the motor has probably burnt out

If the low speed fan is broken (its winding is open circuit) that would break the first 2 speeds. Its not until you get to speed 3 that the fans are driven directly.
Replace the single stuffed fan, or perhaps get a replacement (its a copy not as good as original but works) from ozeparts.com.au Nigel |
