hey guys ive got a mate who takes out his thermostat during summer, says it keeps his car cooler. you rekon its worth it?

You would end up using more fuel without a thermostat on short trips. Just fit a cooler thermostat, i run a 82 degree thermostat.

thx fellas, is 82 degrees the coolest? coz mine does get a bit hot in traffic, like gets to N on the normal, as opposed to its usual A-L position

A hotter thermostat will keep the coolant in the radiator longer and help maintain temp better.
No thermostat will cause to much flow, not allowing enough time in the radiator to cool. So the coolant will continue to hotter till boiling point. If you are getting to the "N" at the lights, either you fans are not working correctly or your radiator is blocked.
