Due to the recent problems with my motor I am replacing mine with an AU series 3 and was wondering if there are anyone out there who has done the conversion and can tell me the issues I will face. Points I am currently aware of are the subframe needs a modification but I don't know the extent. The EF computer is compatible if I use my existing wiring. The Alternator needs to be from the Au as does the Auto Bell housing.

Is this a VCT engine you have in mind? Mark from ITS Performance performed a non VCT conversion for me on my EF. Check him out, the entire build was both professional and high quality.

If you're talking V8s, it can be done but don't.

To answer both posts, it is a non VCT and I6. The VCT would be possible I imagine with the ECU and wiring from the VCT donar but in my case not worth it.

all u do is add the EF sump on the au motor! or attack the sump ribs of teh au motor with a angle grinder!

you wont have the sequetiona injection of the au but thats no worry!
other than that i think you are pretty much on the right track!

Thanks Disco Frank,
Could you or anyone else be able to supply a picture of the AU sump inplace on and EF, that would make it a bit easier as I could do it in one step rather than several if had an idea of where I needed to be prior to installing. I am leaning toward the subframe mod at the moment as I think removing the fins negates the benifit of the alloy sump. A picture of either would be appreciated.

you cant put a EF sump onto the AU motor
the AU has extra bolt up through the sump into the mains caps supposed to act like a girdle i would think.
im sure the motor bolts straight into a early e series so it cant need that much mod to get it into a EF.
when you pick the motor up we can sit it into a ef Kframe and have a look.

so in other words the ef sump will fit but the motor wont have the extra bolt into the mains cap?

a lot has to be taken off an EF kframe for the AU sump to fit
earlier eseries kframes only need a VERY small amount removed to clear the sump.

Contact ITS about it if they do it all the time? :)
