first post. hopefully my last if i can fix the problem. haha
as far as i know its a transmission f&*k up well thats what i have been told.
when i am driving and i put my foot down the revs go up but the speed doesnt alter. and if i keep my foot on the accelerator i can hear clunks like its trying to slip into gear and then it finally slips in after about 10 seconds.

dont know if i should strip it back and do a rebuild but it would be a s**t of a job. hopefully its not the transmission and something a little less time comsuming

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

94' FORD EF futura.

its definatly the trans but if the oil aint bad than it could just be in need of a band adjustment but if not she is rooted rebuild the only way too fix

valve body would cause bad shift, heavy shift not slipping. the band applies the clutches to put it into gear or not into gear in this case. i should know i work at an auto trans place. by the way full rebuilds start from 2500

I got quoted $1300 for a Rebuilt BTR with kevlar bands at ace automatics here in QLD.

the EF/EL autos dont have external adjustment for bands on them...you have to adjust by shimming internally - so not as simple as you think..

i beleive that if your bands are worn that much then the auto has done a lot of work and it could be near the end of its life

According to my EF/EL manual you can adjust the bands externally.

if there the same as the 3 speed the front band has to be dun on the inside and there is one on the out side for the rear band

the band adjustment is on the side and the 3speed is not a btr which and ef is so dont compare the two. if it had lo pressure it would have crap drive lack of power.

is it going into all gears???? i think band related or solenoid related my old EA did this (only when warm) told different story's from different people but all seemed to come down to a solinoid there are 6 S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6
apparently the most commons to go are either S2, S5 or S6 but it just may need a decent service like oil/filter band adjustment
