I've found them very accurate.
If you've just fitted one, stop touching it and it'll work. you need to generate around 50k's to get a decent reading, even 100 and NO, not just a drive to the cbd.

Cars fitted with one standard but I thougjt it was hard to believe it gets7-8 litres per 100 dependin on the traffic and weather, but my old fairmont was shocking on petrol, the only diffence is my new one has no rear resonator and a el intake pipe

to help judge an accurate trip computer you need the average speed too.
around town/local my el uses 15L/100kms at an average speed of 32kmph on the highway at an average speed of 85km it uses 10.5L/100kms |

My last car (ef manual xr6 ecu exhaust etc) use to get 9.7l/100 with an average speed of about 52kmh i think.
My AU v8 fairlane now does about 12.9ish with the same average speed.

L per 100 gauges are better then odo's in my opinion!
They do have one thing in common, they are just a guide
