Mate is looking into turboing his EF. I have been roped into fitting all the stuff and doing cost research. The engine will be stock, big exhaust, ebay FMIC etc. I seem to remember in Zooms "workhorse wake up" they used the stock ECU and had it tuned. Is this still a viable option? Can it drive large injectors OK? What turbo setup would be good. I am thinking the 6boost linup would be good. Which one would be best out of these? Are there some other good options? Someone mentioned www.snortperformance.com
6boost "street bruiser" setup, Garrett GT30/40 600hp turbo, .82 rear, tial 44mm wastegate, 36mm diameter pipes, 350-400rwhp on 18-20psi, full boost 3000-3300rpm, $3300 6boost "street/strip warrior" setup, Garrett GT35/40 700hp turbo, 1.06 rear, tial 44mm wastegate, 36mm pipe diameter, 400-500rwhp on 20-28psi, full boost at 3700-4200rpm, $3300 6boost "strip warrior" setup, Garrett GT42 800hp turbo, .91 TA45 rear, Tial 44mm wastegate, 36mm pipe diameter, 500-650rwhp on 24-30psi, full boost at 4200-4500rpm, $3900. I'm thinking the 35/40 1.06 should be sweet. How much power are the auto boxes good for? Also, my mate has been told by another mate that these engines are **** for turboing and will blow up and make no power etc etc. I know this is BS and I would be interested to know how many people have proved the stock motor cab handle it. (must be hundreds by now :p ) Links would be sweet. Thanks guys.

Thanks guys. Plenty of info under Chef. Looks like he is selling a setup too. I take it he is a respectable forum member?
6BOOST range can be seen here. A lot of you guys will know of Kyle as he sort of pioneered the ford I6 turbo thing with his white EA featured in Zoom ages ago. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthrea ... et+bruiser How much do the greenslade engineering setups cost? I couldn't find a website. Also do you guys know much about running a low boost setup with an FMU and stock ECU?

Chris, "chef" is very knowledgable when it comes to turboing the old coonys as hes ed showed.
There are many people on this forums runing well over 200rwkw on a stock motor, generally the only part that needs upgrading is the head gasket to a au or similar, but that still isnt alwasy necessary. The autos on the opther are are very weak in stock form and will not be too happy with 200rwkw. Minimum mods will be valve body mods and big oil coolers. Also the stock ecu isnt a great option when running boost. Theres a thread in teh forced induction forum that proes it is possible, although for the price of a wolf 3d or similar it is by far the better option. Ps chefs turbo gear is all sold.

I have been reading and reading. Losts of info around, some conflicting.
What does the valve body mod do that is better than the electronic mod in terms of trans life?

Im not 100% sure how it work. I know one thing that many do with their autos is replace the s5 solenoid with one from a au, this allows the line pressure to be wound up increasing shift firmness and making the auto last longer. And yes they are much better then the electonic alternative.

hmmm. Might start a thread on it. I have been tinkering with my Toyota 2JZ trans by shimming acumulators etc so I am intersted in auto trans mods.

The 6Boost manifolds look the goods for quality and the price is not too bad either.
I found this site selling their manifolds the other day and thought it might be useful to someone here. You'll find the ford manifolds listed under the third picture for $1375@ http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/ |

If was going to get a 6boost manifold I would just talk to Kyle direct and get a turbo off him too.
