when my s5 solenoid was on teh way out, and chirping 2nd everytime in my 4spd auto, it had a huge difference on beating commodores, raced a mates lexcen (same as vp commodore), beat him off the lights and rolling start, gotta love the lsd and hitting 2nd in the auto and stepping out good fun

Toyota Lexcen = VN Commodore, with pretty much calais spec interior.
Still a raspy, light assed piece of s**t though. Good for burnouts and f**k all else.
The 3.8 has a fair whack more torque off the line too, and coupled with there lower 1st gearing makes them a dangerous foe.

Or will that first gear of falcs still pose a problem?

Try him anyway, just don't race for 'slips'.

Or race to 120, you'll beat him no worries.

Yes with extractors and 2'5 zorst..
I say you stand a good chance..

-Take out any un-necessary weight in car; tyre, run on 1/4 tank etc
-Practise launches (experiment)

Yep, and even to 120 he'd probably still have you. For a chance you'd have to go to like 180, and that would be VEEEERY silly.
Stocko VN auto beats Stocko EF auto. Unless the VN is faaaarked...

Manual you'd kick the holdens a** but with an auto you need to manual shift through the first 2 gears just stall with the brake on at maybe 3 grand if you at all have a rev guage hell i remember dragging a vl in my old mans vp an (auto) i went through the gears straight into reverse at 90+ 4 wheel slide just avoided a parked car oldman still wants to shoot me.... but i reckon an auto should win against a commonwhore the only problem is that the v series holdons had auto turbo gearboxes can't remember the make but they were s**t....
