ok guys,

my cousin's got a VN calais with extractors and exhaust. I've got a good ol' stock EF fairmont, they're both autos and the time has come to drag.

Do you reckon im a chance? or will I get my a*** whooped?

How much do I have to dial up to get the best launch and what tyre pressures do you think I should have? I'm gonna fly the blue oval flag, so you've gotta help me here!!!!!

Cheers!

He will whup you miserably off the line. You'll start to reel him in from bout 80 up, but depends on what you're dragging to if you'll actually win. I assume we're talking a legal drag at Calder or Heathcote.. *cough*, so it should be close.
Depends on how fit the VN is... I got a whupping by a VN Calais back in the day (Fairmont not sprint). but he'd just had a rebuild...

I'd recomend stalling the car up to about 2000rpm when u launch and try make the trany shift into 2nd at about 5200rpm, but it should be a close one.

IMHO they are faster, and so long as it aint fuked or on its last legs i rekon it will beat you, just tht type of car, rough as sh*t yet they move well, specially with some decent mods.
Mate of mine in EF ghia got raped by vn exec with extractors, zorst, 4.?? gears n stall - granted it has more than this one your going against, but i mean there was no comp for the EF ghia, id say take him on where it counts, driveability n comfort!
While hes speeding away, he will be hearing a screaming breathless v6 with rattles n groans..

Sorry, but its a fact they are fast.

What speed will this goto?

Anything is possible. I didn't beat a 5 litre VN Commodore off the lights down Quakers Hill Parkway 2 months ago, but he got nothing on me either. Neck and neck all the way. The other driver had one of those nice '05L' licence plates too. Who do you think was more annoyed at that outcome out of the two of us?
