Hey guys I'm in the process of repLacing a tired water pump, RepLacement pump (GMB) doesn't have puLLey incLuded.
Removed oLd pump without a hitch to find puLLey is pressed on, My question is how do you remove without damaging and refit to new pump. Is this the usuaL practise or are you supposed to fit a new puLLey? Any info appreciated, Cheers...

I usually sell a new pulley with a Water pump as a lot of guys don't want to go to the trouble of remove and replace. The cost of the genuine pulley is $36.00 and you still will have to get it put on. I have never replaced one myself but I am sure other guys here have.

you need a removal tool to remove the pulley without damaging it. It grabs the centre of the pulley and pulls it out. I think you can use the same tool to put it in but not sure.

If the old pump has the std plastic pulley, don't even bother trying to get it off.
Buy a metal pulley - I found the cheapest in my area was from Autopro. If you don't have access to a press, support the pump on the underside shaft (not the impellor), and hammer the new pulley on with a decent sized hammer - use a matching size socket or similar, so you don't damage the pulley with the hammer. As always, be careful, and take your time. I found it was a fair bit cheaper to buy the pump and metal pulley separately, than with the pump pre installed with it.
