has anyone over the last 15yrs worked out a sure found way to fix the problem with front windows sticking on the way up in EF's i am in the process of changing my windows from manual to electric and while i got it all apart if i can fix it that would be good to fix i am sick of telling ppl how to wind up the passenger side and with the only thing stopping then being that they cant wind anymore, with electric one i can see myself having to replacing the motor it in no time

spray the window runners in the top of the door frame with silicon spray, wind them up and down a fews times and then redo.
also pull the door trim off and spray the window regulator runners with lithium based spray grease, $7 from bunnings. the outside of the runners closest to the outer door skin is where they run and get dry. try not to get it on the cables as they may slip |

Yes as above, take the trims off and give them a good spray, fixed mine.

I've got an EL XR6 and had my left electric window assembly replaced by Ford late in 2007 (cable snapped). The dealer said it still sticks half way up so be careful! As I was moving interstate and didn't know much about the windows, ended up (payed around $295 for the parts) costing over $400 total for the repair.
Now its sticking again, requiring a fairly heavy push to get the window up. The motor/regulator was making a terrible clicking noise! Is the noise just the regulator/motor being overloaded or something? Noticed on eBay the assembly is selling for around $65.00. I'll get some silicon spray to spray the door frame, but which brand and where from? I'll get some lithium based spray grease to spray the window regulator runners (as advised by XRfairmont67). I'll let you know how I go. For now, I'm not touching the window button! Thanks team! |

The window is held by two 10mm bolts. Over time I find the the window loses it's alignment. I usually loosen those bolts, wind the window a bit down then all the way up, tighten the bolts again and she's good.

no probs, im a panel beater and i have fixed that many sticky windows over the years

imo,
get a phillips screw driver spend 10/20 mins each to take your trims off and grease them properly. clean the rails with degresser and paper towel/rag and then wipe plenty of grease on the rails and moving bits any old bearing grease works well can cost less then good silicone spray and last years, not days and weeks or until it rains or there is condensation  yeah so spray has only ever temp fixed my multiple e series window issues. it doesnt take long for a sticking window to turn into a stuffd regulator and/or switches plus the constant current strain eventually burns out your wiring. |

from the factory the regulator runner were lithium greased, and only last what 10-15 years,
the window channels are made with soft felt moulded to the plasticised rubber backing, once this wears it makes it harder for the glass to slide in. the window channels are the main part of the problem, keep them lubed with silicon if u want them (regs) to last. i do mine once a year if that |

i have used the nulon ezyglide and its worked a treat havent had the chance to get the electrics in but maybe this weekend
