The XR6's copped higher equipment levels. Plus they had a body kit Having said that, what Ford quote as weight and what you'd get if you slapped it on a weighbridge, are two very different things. You want to be light? Do what exholden said. I'm assuming it's an auto too, so you could save some weight by cutting off your left leg.

Scape the paint off, save a few kilos there. That's what Mercedes did in the 30's when one of it's racing cars weighed in at 751kg when the scrutineering specified 750kg.

really? I know that Honda use thinner glass for their type R series, and as for those autounion cars you're talking about, they were s**t hot in the 30's, Ferdinand Porsche had a 750 kg car that had 450 hp, oh yeah!

the manual gli sedan would be the lightest model in the series, i wouldnt be worried about weight to much its not a race car ffs, if you want a light race rocket thing go buy and r32 skyline or something.
you want a good large comfortable car stick to the falcon |

you want a good large comfortable car stick to the falcon You can't deny though (the BA especially) could do with shedding a few kilos, the GT-P is approaching medium 4wd territory! I'm not saying you have to have a light weight stripped out racing car, but the Commodore manages to be a bit lighter and consequently some models actually have a better power to weight ratio. Before anyone starts, I'm well aware that the BA is heavier then a VY because it has much more sophisticated suspension and all the rest of it I'm just trying to look on both sides of the argument here.

Trims, carpets, stereo, power steering, air conditioning....
Think of the bare neccesities, then throw away everything else.... You'd get great economy... |

On that note, I can't remember where I read it (zoom, autospeed? i dunno) But a BA and VY where slapped on the weighbridge (I think they might have been utes) The BA came under Fords official quote, the VY was well over Holdens offical numbers... make of that what you will...

My XG ute weighs 1400Kg even.
The new VE commo thats comin out soon is gonna be 230Kg heavier than the old model according to Motor magazine ( i know you cant believe everything they tell ya, but they cant be far wrong). The gutless alloytec will struggle to shift that much weight around at anything above walking pace. |

rumor has it the alloytec is being ditched in a couple of years.
that's interesting about the power/weight ratio, that would make the holden look like it has a better p/w ratio and the ford worse, yet the ford runs circles around the vy/vz.

well, if you want to pass the point of no return, get your drill out and drill out holes in anything that's not structural. I can't see why you'd wanna do it, but go for it

If all you want to do is beat commo's then just change your gear ratios and such. If you start cutting out the insides of doors keep your car on a race track and not the streets cause its illigal and dangerous.
Fact of the matter is if your that worried about it rip the stereo and a/c out. Cars are structually weak these days as it is
