Hello all,
Im the proud owner of an ef xr6, 5 speed. However i have a problem with the motor. When i floor it and open on full throttle, after 3000 revs its it stutters and seems to missfire all the way to redline. Though when i hold it at 3/4 throttle, the thing seems fine and does not stutter at all.
I have replaced the sensor on the thottle body, that connects to the butterfly, and put in new leads, plugs and coil, to no avail.
Any ideas?
(at no time does it stutter under 3000)
thankyou.

Try the oxygen centre on the exhaust. Take it out n clean it with wd-40 then throw it back in, see wat happens

try taking the throttle body off and cleaning it. i found this was the problem with my car guzzling fuel and only had it done 3 days ago. it could be all clogged up with shizt.

the butterfly may not be able to go full throttle as it might be blocked, and if it has never be cleaned this maybe one thing to look at

have fun hope this helps

Sounds like you have checked all likely spark issues.

Sounds like you need to check fuel pressure at the injectors. Low fuel pressure can cause this to happen as the engine is starving for fuel when under a heavy fuel load!

Yeah, it certainly sounds like a fuel feed issue. You may have dirty injectors, but they should show up at lower RPM - is your idle a bit rough ?? Simple thing you can do is pull and blank off the vaccy line off the fuel reg (this increases the fuel rail pressure) - if your idle improves it will mean the injectors are possibly dirty. Go for a drive with this setup, and see if the starvation is still there, if not, it looks like the reg is not delivering enough pressure. Put the vaccy line back on. If the issue remains, your fuel pump may not be delivering enough supply - you can check by putting a pressure gauge inline upstream of the fuel reg to check.

Bad news guys!
I cleaned the throttle body and the oxygen sensor, no difference!
I blocked of the vacum line to the fuel regulator, and yet again no difference.
i might buy another new fuel filter and check the fuel pressure and pump then see what happens.
Thankyou all for your replies.

I had a similar problem but just missed a bit after 3 grand. Changed a lot of things but fixed it when I took out the air cleaner element, obviously too dirty. Have you checked the diagnostic plug to make sure there are no alarms up?

He is talking about the air filter. It was too dirty to flow enough air.
