I'm away from home for another week but my wife said the other day that the door locks in the EF were often cycling a few times when she tries to lock it. She's also got back to the car after she swore she locked it and found it unlocked.
Then yesterday she said it not only cycled the locks a few times but the horn also quietly went "bip-bip-bip" I didn't think EF body module etc. had ANY connection to the horn???

one if the door sensors is stuffed, or a door isn't shut properly....

Yep - I know about the locks cycling if an actuator is stuffed or slow to operate - she's tried manually locking each front door and it still happens so I figured I was going to have to disconnect each rear actuator in turn to isolate it when I get back home - but the horn thing has me puzzled...

if a door is left open and the actuators can't lock the door, than the horn goes "bip bip bip bip". Tell her to slam all the doors shut again and try to relock it.

AHA - I thought it had to be something like that - but didn't realise cars earlier than maybe AU had the horn alert. It's evidently all part of whatever the dodgy locking problem is - which I think is one of the rear actuators.

throw some after-market actuators in - best thing i did in my EF

Aftermarket actuators initially got me quite excited but I'm really worried about the plastic rods popping off - not keen on having to pull the freakin doors apart every other day.
Have you had any dramas?

Are you able to just use the jaycar actuators inplace of the originals or do you have to fit the whole Jaycar kit as per the ford mods tech document??

i would bang the inside of the drivers door really hard & it would stop doing that cycling of the central locking. Ha Haaaa, at the start i thought the car was possessed
 Now it hasnt done it in ages but before i bashed the door (in a not so damaging manner) it was doing it quite often. I found that sometimes slamming the door really hard would fix it up too

I suggest replacing the battery in the remote before any thing else, both my EF's did weird things with the central locking when the remote batteries were on their way out.

shouldn't make a difference dude - the BEM receives the signals then tells the locks to unlock/lock depending on the state of the drivers lock.
