Hey guys,
So my EL has been off of the road with a blown head gasket for a couple of months now, seeing as i'm struggling to find the time balancing between work and cars. Now i've never done a head on one of these before, but i'm assuming i'm going to have to go through all the standard crap like replacing all the head bolts/studs and sending the head away to be machined etc. so if im going to go to that much effort to pull it down, i was thinking i should do a bit of research into head and cam packages. so i'm wondering is there anywhere that offers a peformance package with a recon head? i've had a quick look on the internet and i can only mainly find DOHC heads, but next to none for the SOHC variety, which poses another question... how hard is it (or is it even possible) to fit a DOHC head to a the engine i've got? |

Fitting a DOHC head to your motor is not an option. Physically will not fit.

something to keep in mind, if its got a blown head gasket and has been sitting for a few months. there is a chance water will have entered the cyl's after last shut down, which by now may have rusted the bore, and any water that may have been in the oil may have started internal rust...
so there is a chance that the engine is now cactus.... |

I drained the cooling system the day I took it off the road in fear that something along those lines might happen. I'll check out CMS later today. |
