If you have a 3.23 diff (as I imagine most would), I need your help.
Put your automatic into third gear, keep the trans on economy mode which will hopefully keep the torque converter locked and tell me how many RPM you're doing at 70, 80 and 100km/h Please be as specific as possible Cheers |

Well this is all maths really if you have a 3.23 diff and 205/60R15 tyres then you will pull 35.9Kmh per 1000 rpm in third.
So 70kmh=1950rpm 80kmh=2230 Rpm 100kmh=2785rpm |

Think mines 1800rpm @100km/h @3.23 gears

Mine's an EF but I get about 2000rpm@110km/h - does that mean I have an LSD? My dad seemed to think so when he put it up on the ramps (I'm too s**t scared to do it myself lol) to change the oil but I wasn't convinced however the behaviour of the driveline the other night (which ultimately lead to my hitting a kerb when I lost control on a corner in the wet) got me thinking about it again.

Well I get approximately 1980rpm's @110Km/h and I believe I only have the stock 3.08 single spinner so go figure

There's only one place I do that: going down Greenmount on the way into Perth
Seriously though, as I neither drive an EL nor know exactly what sort of diff I have my numbers - even under your conditions - probably wouldn't help much anyway. I only posted it here as my unfortunate encounter with that kerb got me thinking about the diff again and this was the most current thread anywhere near that topic (I really didn't want to mine an old thread). Apologies for trying to hijack your thread

Ah well I would be doing 2500rpm approximately. Wait I will just drive out to my nearest Motorway and check. Hee Hee only 10minutes away for me. As seen in Avatar Pic

how would you know apart from getting under the car, what diff ratio you have?

Start Rant
I'm amazed at how many people are posting crap here. "I've got a 3.08 and I do xxxRPM in 4th" bozz asked for 3.23 in 3rd guys. If you can't help him out with the info he wants then STFU! Who gives a s**t if you THINK you've got an LSD in a DIFFERENT MODEL, with possibly DIFFERENT RATIO diff? End Rant Edit: I realise the irony that the above post has nothing to do with the question that was asked. |

unclewoja, thats exactly what I was thinking but didn't feel the urge to say it in the hope someone would be able to read and help out with what I asked...

bozz trust my calculations this stuff i am not bad at if i say so myself.
If you know your diff ratio and tyre sizw i can calc out a spreadsheet and graphs with your speed in gears and email it to you. PM me if you are interested |

PM me if you are interested I'm not mistrusting it, I'm only concerned about the true rotating circumference when the tyre is at 32psi, whether it will be a little bit less than actual circumference when the tyre is in the air due to the weight on it. Not sure if this is negligible though, thats why I asked. |
