Hi Guys, I have an EL I have been working on for a while and have now got it running.
It appears to have a code 12 (low battery voltage)
My Question is, would this be stored from a prior problem and can it be cleared using the clearing procedure?.
The battery was flat in the car when I got it.
I do not know what it did prior as I purchased the car not running.
I have a good battery in it and the alternator is charging fine.
Thanks for your help, Dave.

Hi, Yes I have tried that but cant get it to work.
Since yesterday I found the air bag fuse blown and changed that, now it has a code 52 (had fault now repaired) I tried the clearing procedure and it wont work.
This is a 1997 EL is the fault clearing procedure the same as an EF?.
Please help if you can.
Thankyou, Dave.

Dave,

Error 52 is a repaired blown fuse error code. This is in memory. If you still have problems clearing the code, you are more than happy to bring into my work and we can remove that annoying air bag light for and see if there is any other errors with our scanner. For this, we can do a special price of $50 (with $5 being donated back into fordmods.com)

If you need details, let me know

Regards,
Paul

Howd you go, is the light still on? pretty sure its mainly els that blow the fuse due to the circuit has the ability to blow the fuse as a fail safe.

To process top clear the code is as follows
- confirm code 52 is present
- turn ignition off then back on
- when the airbag light flashes 5 times then 2 times, earth out the 4th pin in from the right on the top row by holding it earthed until 5 beeps are heard
- turn ignition off and back on to confirm code cleared
:)

EL Airbag computers can't be cleared like an EF buy shorting a pin.

It needs to be turned off using a hand held unit that communicates in serial with the airbag ECU.

The other way to clear it is to wait 100 key starts. Thats how long it retains the memory.

When I used to get airbag faults, everytime I jumped in the car I would go from off to accesseries 10 times, so it would clear the fault in a few days. Or you can sit there an do all 100 in one go. I've also done that before.

This is assuming the cause of the error is definitely fixed.
