Hi all i have just fitted an au engine to my el fairmont & have noticed the knock sensor from the el wont screw into the block , can i use the au one & change the connector ? or do i have to drill & re tap the block to fit the el one ,this is urgent as i cant continue withe the assembly until this is sorted thanks in advance :roll:

if its a series 1 au engine the knock sensor stud can be removed and the ef sensor will screw into the block..
otherwise you can use the au sensor and cut and join the plugs..

3rd option is dont worie about the knock sensor it will still run fine without it..
just might ping if s**t fuel is used...

Thanks for the info its a series 2 or 3 01 au engine i will be using 98 octane but will swap the au sensor plug

Does anyone have a clue which way round i to wire the AU knock sensor
my (EL blue/black , blue /red) AU (yellow, yellow/red)

my Greggory,s manual shows my car having different colours so that is useless ,so i need some help as i want to finish the car today & get it running, so please can anybody help ?
