Hi guys

I have a 95 EF Fairmont which I have now fitted a EL hybrid engine with 170,XXX on the clock, as the previous engine done 2 heads, so for the love of my car, I found this engine.
I have noticed that there is a little bit of oil leaking around the head, leaning me to the conclusion that there is oil leaking from the head.

I would just like to know the risks of just maintaining and checking the oil levels and letting it go?
I have had head issues with water leaks which I know you cannot let go for to long, so I'm just wondering what the risks are with oil leaks ?

Oil can't leak through the head.
It can only leak from the Rocker cover gasket, chain tensioner or timing cover.
The chain tensioner and rocker cover gasket are easy to fix.

Ohh ok. So if it was to leak from the rocker cover gasket is it a huge job like the head gasket?
And leaving it be with keeping an eye on oil levels , will this do long term damage ?

Oil can leak between the block and head, usually on the inlet side or rear corner on exhaust side.

There is no oil passage are the rear exhaust side.

Daniel, rocker cover gasket is easy to do yourself. Timing chain tensioner a little harder but still easy. Timing chain cover, annoying and hard in comparison to the other 2.

I suggest giving the head/block a clean and over time see where it is seeping from and work from that. There shouldn't be big issues with a small leak...a top up when required is fine. However fixing it will be the best option...for having a cleaner garage/driveway floor and not dripping on the road at traffic lights for motorcyclists to slip on.

Well I think what I'm going to do now is give it a really good clean, what type of degreaser is best ? Would something from repco do the trick ?
