hey guys, i was thinking of doing a EL 4.0ltr engine conversion into my EB, im only at the learning/planning stages for now,
but i am wondering what would be better,
i was just reading the ford 6’s and engine retrofit information posted in this forum,
for the EL engine my options are:

1. Use the EA-ED manifolds, leave everything else the same
2. Use the EL engine complete with ECU and loom

another option is the EL head, intake manifold and ECU + loom on the eb engine

what do u guys think would be better? (better = more power)
im also thinking of putting a mild turbo setup on it in the future

any help would be greatful
cheers
Daniel

in terms of ease, (i dont know a hole lot) but the heads and a rebuild with a broadband manifold, then if you want that bit more you'd go the ecu.

but if your up for the challange go the full swap. theres a few going round these days

im pritty sure, but (dont quote me) there is a pin you could put in and it makes it all good. chuck one in and do the rewire your self. theres heaps of wiring info in the tech docs. shoudn't be too hard

i was thinking of buying another EB engine and doing these mods to it then putting the engine in the car...
would it just be easier to fit the head, bbm+ecu on my current engine still in the car?

Quote:
1. Use the EA-ED manifolds, leave everything else the same
2. Use the EL engine complete with ECU and loom

another option is the EL head, intake manifold and ECU + loom on the eb engine

would any1 be able to tell me what sort of power increase im looking at?

if you go from the eb manifold and ecu to the el manifold and ecu you would probably only gain about 7 to 9 kw which is about 10 to 12 hp i think?...

engine wise there isnt that much difference in them so i would say the only gains would be from the bbm and ecu....

How did you fit an AU engine in an EA? Did you use the AU sump? or did you alter the AU sump, or did you use the EA sump?

hmm, so if i used just an EL head bbm+ecu, would be better then dumping a whole el engine in the car?

my mate also said it would prob be better to just put an AU engine in the car

the heads and manifold will make more of a difference then the block, altho the compression might be a bit low.

im not 100% sure, i dont think ford has really touched the boars on the 4.0 block for a fair while anyway?

Go the EL manifold, ecu, thermos etc. Not much of a power increase but more responsive and refined. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=39464 Have a look at this then make up your mind as others have done it too.
