leighcosa, the quote was not for a Tickford engine. Only from what I've read, SgtBourne is right about the BAs, it can be done but I'm only referring to an easy cost effective option. I stumbled on a low klm EL engine at the last moment [in Melb] and decided to put it in myself, I spent the savings on an EL XR6 LSD and other things.
Other than that, I was happy with the quote and ease of dealing with Tony.
I left my leaking head gasket one extra day, it blew and creamed the engine. I would have had to truck it to Sydney thus blowing the costs out. It was behaving just like yours, so I thought I had time, wrong.

hmm ok then thanks for that insight...
i might get on it asap..im saving for a holiday atm so its hard with money but i think ill get it done or do it myself ...sooner..maybe next week if i have the cash...also if i where to do it myself, where could i get an AU gasket and bolts from? any suggestions...also i live in the south east side of melbourne.

Again, only from what I've read from the experienced Ford freaks here, buy them genuine. It seems to be, with thermostats, the only genuine parts they recommend.
But there may be someone whose actually used one who could give you a better suggestion.
If you replace it yourself, do it before it dumps the coolant into the oil and it will cost you less. You will probably avoid a lot costly of head work. It's a lot of unavoidable work [and time] to strip, clean and rebuild an engine properly after contamination. This work is not justified, IMO, when compared to used, low klm. AU/EL engine prices at the moment.
