I have an NL. Same things happens sometimes when i plant the foot down a little to hard, sounds like a big thud and then a shimmy. Be good to hear if there is any solutions.

Yer well i plan to carry out a major service on the car within the first week except brake fluid(have to wait intill i get new pads and rotors(slotted)) also new ac belt and hoses.

What do they do for a service?

tighten the bands? can they be tightened in this box?
4 speed auto (el 4.0L I6)

im going to put a new sump gasket and filter in the gearbox as well

is it easy to tighten bands?

what do they do for a service on a auto box?

how much would that be like? few $100?
thx

Yeah it's a BAD thing. Mine did that before it exploded on a dyno. Got a new (well reco'd) box and it's smooth as all the time.

You can get second hand boxes from wreckers from $500. I got one of those, but once I got it found it had no reverse, so got the box reco'd under warranty.
