I've got a late 1998 EL Futura, one of the last. Just wondering what are the main differences between the EL Futura's and XR6's mechanical and engine wise? Is it worth updating to an XR6 or just modifying the Futura that i'm happy with?

Cheers!

Better off putting an AU motor in it, but if your happy with it why mess with it?

they had slightly bigger valves, a bees d**k of difference in cam and slightly bigger fuel regulator in the xr tickford cars but it didnt make alot of difference, a wade regrind cam in your standard engine would see bigger power over a standard xr engine and only costs a couple hundred doll-hairs

Differences are XR head with different flow to standard (AFAIK), bigger fuel regulator, different fuel mapping, different cam, 3.45 LSD diff, lower suspension...that's all I can think of.

Overall, the EL XR6 is pretty much a totally different car to the Futura mechanical wise (and maybe interior...not sure on that one).

You can just modify your current one...you can put the XR engine goodies on the current car, but that won't make too much of a difference for the cost. 3.45 LSD Diff will make the biggest difference IMO. Then you got your normal engine mods, exhaust, cam, intake etc.

If you're happy with your car, keep it and do it up.
