Hey all,
I have a 97 EL Ghia, tickford motor with mods per my signature. I bought it used, bloody awesome car. When it was new it was worth around $45-50k. Now its worth probably $8k. But what a bargain, top car for the money. My neighbour bought a 98 Honda Prelude VTIR for $19,000. I think it was also about $50k brand new. Ok mine is 1 yr older but I reckon it s**t all over the Honda in every possible way. How can he justify paying that amount. It makes my blood boil. Ford represents a sensational used car value proposition but probably not so good if you buy new. Why are people so blind and dont see the value of the used ford? They instead buy silly cars with no torque and pay more than twice the price. In what way would the Honda be better than my Ford??? Are some people just really dumb?

Prelude VTi-R is probably quicker, is lighter, handles better and is more fuel efficient. So they are probably a few reasons.
The Ghia was actually about 4-6k more expensive than the prelude new. Fords deliver a great value car for the price you pay now, but brand new they're hardly worth that sort of money, and they depreciate ridiculously because they sell like hotcakes and then the used car market gets flooded with the previous model because the new one has come out, and then bob's your uncle. Preludes didn't sell that well, and now there aren't so many around the people that want them are prepared to pay a bit more. On the bright side, cheap 2nd hand falcons are great for people wanting to buy in. |

i love my fords but as you all you know i own a honda as well, fords are a tuff no nonsense basic car, very little goes wrong with em and you can flog em till they hit rediculous ks,hence the reason most taxis are fords.
hondas are not as tuff, but are really trouble free with good maintanace and full of technology, hence the higher price. falcons are the best value used car on the market imho.

Firstly I bought the commy because Ford doesnt address that sort of performance, at least not in 2001 with the AU s**t XR8
No the Honda is not quicker, Ive driven both, looks are arguable, creature comforts the ghia kills it, handling maybe the honda but we are not on the track.

Why do you worry so much, if he wants to pay that for a car its his business, and if he chooses a Honda over a Ford who really cares!

I love my Hyundai Coupe. Its not a bi fmaily car like was the Falcon but it suits me and my needs and its what I want. In saying that though I also loved the Falocn I had, but I prefer the Coupe.

Last time I checked those Preludes ran a low low low 15, which puts it ahead of the 4 speed EL. |

If the Prelude is a VTEC, it will s**t on an auto EL, if both are stock.
The VTEC's just rev like a f**k rotor. |

I wish my posts generated as much interest as what EBV8's do (just check the number of hits on his threads, it's insane )
Mate, they aren't even worth comparing. It's like comparing an Integra Type R with an XR6. Both are good, but for completly different reasons. Your neighbour / mate got totally ripped, but if that's what he / she wanted, then that's their tough luck. Some people are just ignorant... EBV8, have you ran the Commie down the quarter yet? |

Ive been in a few honda's and the interior is heaps nicer than fords even fairlanes and such. Aussie cars are way behind in interior design and comforts
