ok so I pulled the plugs today something I probably should have done from the start. in the picture the plugs are placed in the order I pulled them left cyl1 to right cyl6 note cylinder six is quiet messy and the electrode has sunken in by half the depth of all the others my guess is that its carbon fouled as its a dry and rusty feel this could explain the miss but still buggered on the high idle problem.

Ok I changed plugs and leads idled at 1500 for a minute then started to lower reached 1000 had a few flashes on the dashboard then slowly went back to the 2700 mark took it for a drive and oil pressure is reading max stoped car with accessories on and oil pressure is flutuating from quater mark and red area is the oil pressure sender near the dizzy area if so i might of knocked it.

Just realised my tags have OPT20 on them which I have been told is a ex-cop car does this make any difference regarding the high idle, I mean is there any extra components I should check I have the car booked into the shop monday so if I can fix it before than would be a money saver.

Digging up an old thread,
how did you go with this?
I got the exact same problem with my car - driving me nuts.

I can drive it with the ISC disconnected (however cold starts it stalls all the time)
ISC plugged in - sits on 2000rpm.

Cheers,
Ash

Check the ISC valve is not blocked or stuck, try swapping it altogether if you can. Although it doesn't really solve the problem, as a temporary fix you can also make a new ISC gasket with smaller holes. If I recall correctly, the smaller the hole the more it will behave as though the ISC is disconnected.

Sorry for the late reply it ended up being a slight leak from the bottom of the intake manifold can be a hard spot to check . Cheers

Clean out the ISC, use Carby Cleaner. Screw thread gets carboned up with crap and binds. Doesn'y close off the valve properly.
