Fairly new to owning a ford, is it common for the car to rev up a little when turning the wheel? I noticed when I was in drive at a drive through every time I turned the wheel the car would rev up a bit and start idling rough. Any ideas?

The idle up is normal, it's to compensate for the powersteering load.
Going rough, not so much. Have a look at the idle speed valve it may have built up some crud stopping it from operating smoothly.
