hi gtterris,it is also vey critical that on a plg system car that the iginition system is in good working order. Also remember with your spark plug gap should be close 10% smaller if you are running on gas.

Hi All,
I will start by saying I don't knwo much about cars at all. My hubby and I had lots of probs with the EL and er did get the dizzy and coil replaced together less than 12 months a go. We have not got it wet and the coil has apparently goen again. Reading all the other posts you should replace them together or the coil can go again, well this is what we did and it still went!! Any ideas why......I dont want to have to replace the dizzy again as it does start to get quite expensive! TIA |

The Dizzy only triggers the coil. Nothing more. So in replacing it with the coil it an expensive exersize and pointless. If the coil is not reciving it's pulses, then the module on the Dizzy will need to be replaced.

makes sense.....the person who tested it said that the coil was shot ??? he put in a temp replacement and the car is working for now but I am trying to work out what we need to actually replace.

Replacing both each time is an absolute waste of money. But good for you that have you're keeping people in jobs.
Neither can cause the other to fail. If your having problems with your reverse lights popping and your airbag warning light, I'd be looking at the alternator for over voltage, or for a bad earth somewhere that could be doing the damage. |

It was the coil AGAIN! Went through a big puddle and it splashed water onto it!
