Hi guys,
Just wondering... i didn't use my car for a week, and when i started it, it ran on 5 cylinders puffing fuel (black smoke) for about 15 seconds, then cleared up. So i'm guessing one of my injectors is leaky over time, as it doesn't do this if used daily. A bloke on Gumtree here in Adelaide sells a complete set for $130.00. link here: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/munno-pa ... 1078877203 My car has done 297,000kms and returns around 10.3 kms to the litre, according to the trip computer... when i drive it like a poofter... Questions are: 1. will these injectors give my car an economy boost? 2. These injectors are the "new type", so will they improve performance? My car goes ok, and makes 114.5 kilo wasps on the dyno. Worth while investment? Your thoughts and or experiences most welcome. Thanks. One Man. |

Economy will improve a little and idle will be smoother, but there is no noticeable performance gain unless your old injectors are just really bad.

Depending on the condition of the engine, driveline and brakes, they will deliver better fuel economy and power.....but not heaps.

Condition of the driveline, brakes, caliper slides, wheel bearings, engine and trans are outstanding... for the km travelled.. and considering i fix problems as they arise.
The engine uses oil at the rate of.. about the thickness of a matchstick every 10,000 kms (according to the dipstick). I use Torco TR1 10w40 oil, so being a race type lubricant, i can get away with 10,000 kay service intervals. My engine doesn't leak, or tick since i started using the Torco oil, and the fact that i changed the rear main oil seal and front trans seal recently probably helped to solve that (oil leak wise). I have been flat out and haven't had a chance to contact the guy selling these injectors. When i do get a minute, i'll buy them and install. Will post what the outcome is. Thanks for your info mate. Hi guys.
Well, got the new injectors and chucked them in. Wow, what a different car it is now. Starts within one crank revolution when cold, and about a maximum of 2 crank revolutions when hot. With the old injectors it would always crank about 5 to 6 times before firing, both when hot and cold. Throttle response is a lot more sensitive now also. Use less pedal for more speed. As for the economy.. a bit early to tell. But I would highly recommend changing your injectors if they have done upwards of 290,000 kays. Well worth the money spent. One Man |

Good stuff mate. Sounds like the old ones were pretty shot.
