well now im really really p****d off.

got a batt charger charged it up . played around re seating the dizzy this arvo and got her running not so bad ( still need timing light to get ti better. ) but now a new prob has arisen

as i was looking over towards the zorst i noticed som oil at the back of the motor running down next to the bell housing. sure enought its looks like coming from the head gasket (that was just done while motr was out) the head wend back on no worries all torqued up and tighten another 90' so i thought oh s**t. looked in the oil cap and could see a few droplets of water. .. (i think) may be silver paint over spray.

well now just took the rocker cover off and cant see ne water thinking maybe the back of the rocker cover gasket wasnt on right and its leaked out. coz i pussed the car back and saw a nice big puddle of oil . thinking if it was the head it prob wouldnt be that much ?

but if it is the head well

im confuzzled on what the f**k to do.

and why its leaking

after the head got skimmed and the block was cleaned right back with gasket remover a blade and steel wool.

this has been the worst last 2 weeks.

Are you sure the oil is comming from the head gasket and not the rocker cover? Ive been caught a couple of times when the rocker cover gasket has pinched at the 1/2 moon at the back and it weaps oil down onto the top of the bellhousing.

if that oil/water mix dripped from you car when it wasnt running it shouldnt be the rocker cover gasket as it isnt full of oil, only circulates when the cars running.
as for the rough idleing, make sure you connect the front pcv hose to the fuel breather line to the bottom of the inlet manifold. i think its different on eb/eds. ef/el use a three point conector like an E with out the top -.

thats kewl all sused out was just the rocker cover gasket.

as for the motor it makes great power on cyl 4,5,6 but not the rest .

gotta do compression test as the plugs r getting oiled up.

so if compression test goes bad motor will be comming back out and will get the bottom end redone. more then likely forged pistons (of some brand) then might as well get a big cam of some brand and go for power .

thinking might just get the eb motor some new stem seals and berings and gaskets and wack her back in, in the mean time with the bbm.

then afterwards dropp the el motor in .

well compresion test came back

cyl 1 = 0
cyl 2 = 130
cyl 3 =130
cyl 4 = 130
cyl 5 = 127
cyl 6 = 125

so somethings up with 1. should prob do a leak down test and go from there . but now just thinking to rip the head off and go get the stg 3 from KEC then get some forged pistons new rings bearings etc.

depends on funds and time

ouch!!

looks like cam timing was out..
that would explain the low compression..

agree with arm79 90% of ford service team wouldn't know the boot from bonnet. diagnosed my blocked up cat as a fcuked fuel pump & regulator.
They have a diagnostics plug for a reason ?
I am sure that the catch here is that if you asked them to point out the bonnet before you agreed to them servicing the car then they would be adjusting the price of the labour accordingly.
