EL losing coolant BUT no leaks and no white crap, oil etc in overflow tank. Cap also looks good, seal not cracked.
Anyone have any ideas?? Could Air Con use and lose it? Its on everyday on full ball at the moment. Had tank flushed about 3 weeks ago, so in that time it has gone from MAX line to half way between Max and Min. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

To test the headgasket, there's a funky new tool, where you put it over the radiator hole, and the steam come up into it, and if there's any CO2 in the steam (found in the combustion chamber) then you know the headgasket is leaking somewhere.. Tried a pressure test?

U can get a test done of ya coolant yea, it just tells ya if there is traces of combustion gases in the coolant. You haven't really lost alot for it being 3 weeks, it may have just bin wat the system needed to fill itself after the flush.

You looked under the manifolds?

well, could the system just be equalling itself out? just because there is a 'max' doesn't mean that if you fill it to there, it'll stay there - if its hot, and the coolant overflows, then mid-way between max & min might be its optimal level? does it keep dropping from that? i know mine was leaking a bit the other week after a hard run in the heat - it just had to equal itself out & none has dropped since!

I agree with uglybob, if you are filling it up when cold to the max line then when it expands it will expel excess coolant out the cap, the max line is for maximum coolnat level when hot.
However if you are continuing to lose coolant, it maybe going out the exhaust, ie internal head gasket leak. You don't always get the white creamy crap in your oil. Also, i had my head gasket fail late last year, it was leaking outwards. However I couldn't see the leaks as they were under the manifolds and the coolant was leaking so slightly that when parked the coolant didn't make it to th garage floor. Leaks could only be found once car was on a hoist.

Yeah i'd probably go with a wait and see approach. Usually when filling it to MAX there's a bit of overflow as it expands for the first time and builds up a bit too much pressure.
If it continues to fall below the min line.... then there's an issue.

This is unrelated but still a slightly amusing tale from my first four banger.
I was doing my weekly engine check and discovered white milky muck on the oil dipstick and thought "this can't be good". I checked the radiator and saw there was f**k all water in there. I filled it up and drove it around like that for a while and had to remind myself to check the radiator daily. ( No money at the time to deal with the problem. ) After a few weeks it got so bad that if I filled the radiator up to the brim and started the car, I could walk around the back of it and watch the entire radiator content shoot out the exhaust in four minutes. Now that's a major head gasket failure!

when the head gasket went on my old ED it was pretty hard to find. Not using that much cooland but there were no leaks and the oil wasn't milky either....
That would be my first check My 2c cheers

if it is the head gasket is will most likely be on the exaust under the manifold somtimes u cant see it untill u are underneth it. i will most likely just be leaking out of the block and not into the oil, combustion chamber because then u would have other folts. also check the
water pump o'ring, welsh plugs, hoses, thermostate o'ring and bypass o'ring and heater core

That would be my first check My 2c cheers Same with mine - it kept loosing coolant without showing up anything for a while. then oil into the water. still drove it for a few months before water started into the oil.
