Much better... lol...
Hybrid are fun... And that dot can be 3mm or 3 deg (cant remember which) above the head when the balancer is at TDC. So where it is now is 100% correct. If you were 1 tooth out, you would either not be able to see the dot or it would be really high up off the head. TDC check is simply where you have the engine sitting now. Balancer mark pointing to the mark on the timing case, and the cam gear dot where it is now. |

The cam sprockets on these are the same as the aux sprockets. The AU use that little d**k for the cam timing sensor. So the timing marks you were using are for something different.

only thing is im still going to have to rip the head off to change the vale stem seals.
would it still be right to use the head bolts ? the motor hasnt been run since the head has been on and they were new so. just hope it dosnt f**k the head gasket either taking it off. as i dont want to by another acl race series one when i just got one. 1 more thing guys when i go to get the new seals do i ask for ones to suite a el hybrid motor or would au ones work ? |

You dont need to take the head off to do the stem seals. They are done everyday on an engine in a car.
Just turn the engine to TDC for every cylinder. You can fill it with air to stop the valve from droping - Or just let the valve drop, it wont fall far. Installation of spring will be a bit of a pain though. Take the spring off, remove the seal and replace with new one. Then put the spring back on. There is a few instructions on how to do it properly in the cam change doco in the Tech Docs dection. I'm surprised that no one noticed the stem seals were the wrong ones during installation. The size of the seal between the 2 heads is considerably different, and there would be a fair gap between stem and the seal. Did you do the head yourself, or send it elsewhere for that work? |

The hybrid motors came out inthe last of the EL's. they were using AU gear.
Beehive valve springs, different conrods, pistons, rocker ratio change(2:1 old, 1.8:1 new) Main bearing caps have lumps on the sides for the AU sump side bolts, and they have a main bearing cap girdle/brace. There is probably more differences, but this is what i remember of the top of my head.
