Hi guys I'm looking at getting back into speedway and would like to know how much power and torque people are getting out of EL/EF 4L now I will give you a list of the rules..

T/B must be stock
intake manifold has to look factory from the out side... so you can port them and so on
stroke must be stock
NO dry sump

and thats it pretty much if people can put up a combo list and some power figures then I can start looking in the right place

My combo

40thou over 250 X flow pistons
EF crank lightened I can take about 10KG off of it
AU rods
block decked
and head shaved to get about 11:1
ported
valve springs
I would like to go bigger valves but not sure how big I can go
custom extractors and exhaust
XR6T injectors
Sard fuel reg
044 pump or just some thing bigger than stock
lightened flywheel
lightened clutch
modified sump to get the oil away from the crank as much as possible
not sure on cam specs yet that will depend on combo I go with

I would like to have a max rpm of 7000 to 7500 I don't think I need to go more than that.
any thoughts on this guys will help.

Hey mate you are going to need a beasty solid cam and billet valvetrain to get the car revving and making power at 7000-7500rpm (you can snap rocker arms pretty easy revving over 6500rpm). These engines with the standard intake manifold top out at around 200-210rwkw.

I was thinking the same thing.

Are you planning on shaving the counterweights? If so, are you reducing the weight on the conrod/piston assembly to balance it out?

XF Pistons have a higher deck height that E series pistons and AU Rods are longer. Decked Block plus Shaved Head plus Piston/Rod combo = SMASH.

Check this thread compairing rods and pistons fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/a-look-at-the-sohc-4l-engine-in-detail-t85150.html

Can you chip your ECU or does it have to be factory stock?

You cannot machine that much from the block and head before you run into chain issues...

You may find something from a chev that may suit but no garentee's

what about using an AU motor, and a set of forged pistons

are you restricted in cam choice, ie can you use a solid cam or does it have to remain hydraulic?
aftermarket ecu?

yeah can take 10kg off even 11kg and no not shaving the counter weights just re shaping them but thats only 5mm. I didn't know about the XF pistons and AU rods it was just a thought. me and a mate dave have been doing the cranks for a bit now and it makes them alive. ECU is open and if I run a EF I cant go a AU motor.. but If i was to run a BA i can run a AU or EF or XF motor I can only put older motors in new cars not the other way around
