instaed of modifying the K frame or sump can you just put the EL sump on an AU block??
sorry if its been asked before

Been asked a few times before and No was always the answer. You have to modify the k frame or the AU sump
I believe modifying the AU sump is the way to go.
Edit
But unless your a sheety or somewhere in between then it may be possible with a bit of stuffing around to mod the EL sump

I kno a guy who runs a mechanic shop in Geelong that has found a way to shave the sump so it fits. Will post up some more info when i get it.

So what actually stops the EF sump from fitting on?

You need to use an ef-l timing cover .Ef sumps dont line up with Au timing cover bolt holes.They are a bit tight around the rear main cap so you need to make your own gasket.Pretty easy

I contemplated an AU motor but then I asked myself... Why?

Aren't the EF and AU base motors the same as far as power output goes? 157fwkw for each aren't they?

What advantages are there to be had by installing a non-VCT AU motor? I hear that they rev nicer due to better balancing...
