So my dad pressure washed his engine bay and now the car wont start, It cranks but wont turn over, We are getting spark from the coil. Sometimes as its cranking it backfires through the carby. I have searched through other threads with similar problems but would like some more opinions on possible problems. He has gone over just about everything with WD-40 with no improvement. Cheers

These were really susceptible to water in the dizzy - dry it out and it may just run fine.

Water in dizzy = bad...
If you re unlucky, TFI module may also be dead. But as mentioned above, let it dry and see how you go. To hasten the procedure, just spray some WD40 at the dizzy...should disperse the water well.

Is there a way to test the tfi module?

Been here before with our old EL.
Water in the dizzy.

My car does it too... I think my issue may be a hair line crack in the coil... water gets in and spark under compression turns to s**t because I pulled the dizzy top last time and there was no way there was water in there...
I am making TFI modules testers... Still in the process at the moment... it is getting there though: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=95830 Cheers, Tim

Turned out to be the timing was out? How does this happen after a pressure wash? Theres no way the water could have moved the dizzy.

False alarm, moving the distributor must have just fluked something as it stopped working shortly after. Anyways we replaced the coil and it fired up... So it was indeed the coil in the end. Thanks for the replies, helpfull as always.
