Hi Guys,
I have an ED XR6 and have dropped an EL XR6 engine into it. I am stuck on getting it wired up as the harnesses are very different. I have got the EL wiring loom and EL ECU. I have read a few posts but was unsure so am asking. Do I remove all EL wiring from the engine (BBM) and install the ED wiring? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ben |

As already said... Do you want to run full EL injection or ED injection?
Not much varies except for the BBM... They're both dizzy ignition and batch injection... You'll still need to run the ED lower thermostat housing to get the temp gauge to work... You're right but, the wiring is nothing alike so if you want to run EL stuff it will be easier to add the few wires into the computer plug and run them to the BBM solenoid and then plug in the EL PCM and retain all the ED wiring and use the wiring loom off the ED motor on the EL motor... The wiring for the BBM mounts behind the washer bottle (where the solenoid actuator mounts) so it isn't part of the engine loom at all... If your ED has cruise you'll need to mount it somewhere else the vac pump for the cruise is behind the washer bottle... Only other thing you'll need to add wiring to is the knock sensor on the side of the block... I did this when I fitted an AU head to my ED block... I had to lengthen the wiring to a couple of plugs from memory and it all fitted onto the BBM pretty good... It is all in my build thread anyway... Not the AU motor section but the AU VCT head section... Cheers, Tim

Thanks.
Mad2, I would like to keep all the EL running gear. TimmyA, Thanks that has made things clearer. I will see how I go with adding the ED engine harness and loom. |
