The exhaust is goooooone on my EL XR6, it is $170 for the middle section to be replaced, and there was an offer of $400 for a new "sports" system.

What is the general concensus on exhausts for these cars.
I do not want it to sound cheap and tinnie like some cars do with try hard exhausts.

Thanks.......

Well that sounds very cheap. I am certainly keen to just replace the lot if it only that much.
Where do I go for such a great deal? - but I do however wonder if this sort of exhaust will make the car sound cheap and nasty............

Dont worry most of the brand name cat backs dont sound cheap. Well not when they are on a 4.0L power house... maybe they would on a 3.8L V6 ;) (The dreaded v6 with lound exhaust that sounds like a dying cow disease)

My Berklee system makes my car sound like it has some serious balls.

lol thats a dirty call lol.

ok when u go and tell the exhaust guy what u want just say this.

i want a 2.5 inch mandrel bent mild steel cat back exhaust with a single straight through muffler and a resinaitor ither redback or luckey , then say ive been to ther places and they all are around 290,280 instaled what price can you give me.

and this wont sound cheap , but if u want it sounding better get a diffrent cam , and if u get the cam u might as well change your hi flow cat and your headers ( extractors ).

good luck champ

I picked up a mild steel 2.5" cat-back exhaust in Adelaide for $320 all up. Included two straight through mufflers and a rear resonator, plus angled tip to fit standard cutout at rear of EL bumper.

It's plenty loud enough for me (I actually wouldn't have minded it being a little quieter) but doesn't have any drone or resonance, which is beaut. Dropped my 0-100 km/h time by 0.8s :D

I wouldn't recommend anything less than two mufflers and a resonator unless you don't intent doing country driving, as I did a 2500 km round trip to the snow in August and it would have been annoying if it were much louder.

Thank you all. I have a sound perception of what I should do.

Cheers!

I have recently purchased my EL XR6 5speed and love "Falconing" for the first time, a brilliant ride and a great daily driver. :D
