Stock standard autos are slow + slugish in changes. An auto can be better than a T5 but only if the right mods are done. ie. Shift kit (upgraded valve body stall converter etc.....) and they are capable of handling more power than the T5. so that run ur talkin bout would not have been with a stock standard auto. it would have been modded.

and even still a BTR auto transmission which comes on a falcon is not going to ever be as fast as a well driven T5 manual..
that includes highstall, shift kit etc etc. unless serious bucks are spent on it, they just dont compare.

the rate of gearchange in the BTR is just not fast enough compared to the t5 driven by someone whos good (and a short shifter would help too).

4.11's and highstall and shift kit would surely make the BTR much quicker, but still not as fast as a t5 with 3.7's and short shifter.

Yeah the auto's do have the advantage of a healthy launch, when mine was auto i could flatten the throttle and take off hard without f**k all wheelspin, but now ive got the manual i have to baby it off the line just so it doesnt sit there and smoke.

On the other hand, auto's drain alot of power through drivetrain loss, so the manual catches up soon enough....
