well yes the auto changes gears faster then the manual...but the gear ratios are different between the autos and manual. First and 2nd gear are much better (higher ratios) then that off the manual meaning, if you get a good launch you will get more torque going to your tyres quicker then in the auto...since the auto has a god damn long first gear ratio. Since you say torque is double at low speeds...well then the manual would get up to speed quicker with higher ratios?

when my car was auto it was an absolute slug until it gets into 2nd gear! but at higher speeds it went really well. when hooning i would normally leave it in 2nd gear and it was good. but with my t5 it is fukin s**t loads better off the mark and can break traction when moving much easier than the auto. in my opinoins the autos suck coz of crappy 1st gear ratio and they also suck the power out of the engine. but if i had a really worked car then i would go auto no questions asked coz they handle the power better!

how many 4 second e series have you seen champ?

the standard BTR automatic gearbox as seen in E series cars (cos we are talking about E-series cars here not top fuel dragsters is nicknamed SLUSHBOX for a reason.

if you are talking about a standard BTR with highstall and shift kit....
t5 + ripshift + 3.7's will flog that.

t5 conversion full exhaust extractors cam thermos

yes i do find it goes hard the best mod so far has been the t5 conversion.

plenty of people have shaved 1 second or so off their 1/4 time with a t5 conversion.

you cant do that with hightstall and shiftkit. then factor in diff changed (for both manual and auto) and the difference doesnt change at all.

ok i think people are missing the point. None of these boxes were claimed to be modded. So its a standard btr and a standard xr t5 setup.

For the record-
other dude-
EA s pack, T5 lsd, pacemakers, 2.5 in zorst, kn filter.

me-
EB fairmont dual fuel, BTR 4 speed lsd, Genie headers, 2.5in zorst, bmc filter.

he is lighter with more ratios and maybe a kw or two with the pacies.

at start he had me to 30 clicks due to shorter 1st and was 1/2 a car on me. from 30- 80 I drew level and pulled half in front. by 100 I was a full car in front and in the hole that is second gear in those cars. by 120 he was almost level, by 140 he was half a car in front, and we both backed off. Congratulations were had all round and comments were made on the autos ability to pull up the 100 before he did, since he had to change once where as I didnt.

Used well, an auto CAN be a weapon. On that note so can a stick.

NO the auto will still win :) Mate my old EB with 4.11's and 2500 Stally would take ANYTHING off the mark...when it had slicks on the back f**k forget getting me off the mark.

nah shift kit just makes the shift more firm reducing slip in the auto. Still drives like an auto though. Dont think you can manualize a BTR 4 speed yet.
