Your talking about pouring $3000+ into an engine to get 150rwkw, for $3000 i would turbo the B**** and get somwhere in the 240-250rwkw. Maybe i have a freak engine (RE: i kept up with data_mine who had an AU stage 2 RPD cam in an EL hybrid engine, extractors, 2.5"system and computer mods )and i kept up with him to 100km/hr in a car that weighs approx. 2 tons, and i can still beat so many cars on the road. All i'm saying is for the money you want to spend, you can get alot more than 150rwkw. turbo it for $3000????? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahhahahahahahahaahhahahahahahaha ahahhaahahahhahahahaha ahahhahahahahahaa hahahahah ahahah ahah ah ah ah sorry i just found that very funny. your engine isn't really anything good. most people get around the number with similar mods. i was getting 136rwkw befor i put a $270 cam in it and gat 10 more kw. but do you realy think power comes free? the further you go the more it costs. the first 20kw might only cost $800 but the next will be twice that if you can't turbo a car for $3000 your a sad little man with no idea. for the price of a turbo kit, provided you get a good sized turbo, you can get a huge range of power from it, raise the boost a few psi. Spend $3000 on JMM engine mods and thats where it is.

Concorde... there are 2 ways of doing things, the right way, and then theres the alternative that people like yourself chooses... the cheap and nasty way, and if your soooo into engines, then you would know about the cheap and nasty ways, and what happens to your motor going that way.... the costs involved and in the end, costs you much more for going that way, not to mention what you have left in the end, I think in the LONG run, we'd be so much better off than you, and thats putting it simply, been around MUCH longer than you mate and I think Ive done up a few motors over the years, so been there done that, now its YOUR turn..... to spend and learn

Dude for starters you gunna want some aftermark ECU to control a turbo setup properly, that is unless you intentionally set out to kill your motor. That's AT LEAST a grand just there (assume you can install and tune yourself) Leaving 2 grand for the rest of the kit...hmm
Concorde outline me what's involved in a $2000 or less turbo kit? Cheers! |

Spend $3000 on JMM engine mods and thats where it is. you are the sad little man if you think you can properly turbo any engine for $3000. here's a start. ECU min of $800 plus install and tunning there's an other $800 turbo min of $700 for new one manifold and exhaust. looking well over $1000 intercooler and plumbing $1500 not even close to done and way over $3000 |

$600 exhaust, $250 cam $90 springs. 143rwkw. You JUST proved my point mate, now just sit and think WHAT is the difference between a $600 exhaust system, a $1200 system and a $2500 system, also, $90 springs, $150 spring set and a $230 spring set.... ?.. in the end, you get what you pay for...

So you've been around longer hey??? I seriously doubt that. I have had my fair share of cars, engine builds. I would like to see some of your projects. My first turbo car, VL Turbo was putting out approx 400rwhp, reliably, running factory computer and injectors. I started building this car when i was 18. So what do you mean by "cheap and nasty"?? You see, i don't just go and flop out my poor excuse of a wallet, and ignorance like you might. I do my homework. I do things properly, and I shop around. So because I do the work myself, because it is hard to find good professional workshops these days that don't bend you over and give you a better working over than your car, that makes it and my work cheap and nasty? now for starters, ebay: T04E turbo $600 Ebay wastegate $200 Turbo manifold $950 Pipe work, lines, exhaust $1000 Nissan GTR intercooler form a jap wreckers $200 Leaves you $50 for incidentals. Now, stock heads are strong enough and flow well enough to handle alot of boost, and the computer can apparently handle up to 2bar. So pull your head in, because you don't know me, you don't know my kind of work, (ask anyone that knows me how i do things with my car) and you are by far not the BE ALL AND END ALL of mechanical or engine building knowledge. Sorry, your how old? go back to playing with and modifying your Barbie Ferrari or whatever it is.

downingj - just to keep you happy, Ill get it dynoed this saturday tuned (providing all goes in my favour). As for before figures, i really CBF ripping it all off just to prove a point, but whats a 300,000K engine really put out stock?
And Im with tickford_6 on the turbo setup, for 3 grand, for a decent size turbo and everything included... I highly doubt it. But feel free to prove me wrong. Cheers

Oh and no worries about breaking down the price... I just like to keep things honest no point saying my car got 200rwkw for $200.. who does it benefit? I couldn't really give a s**t how much the dyno says my car has, my mission in life is to eat rice, and that is becoming reality. Dynos are like comparing d**k sizes IMO, just gets people frustrated and confused. My penis enlargement cost me $200 and now my d**k is 20".. beat that.
Cheers

Mate, I STRONGLY suggest you go turbo, with that sortta weight in your car, as its gonna slow ya down too much and ya wont get good times...

lol, I think I turned this into the wrong kind of thread... and Turbo power and NA power are not really compareable kezz. Sure there's a line, and sometimes that line is really fine. But at the end of the day, saying you put a turbo on and got 13.5 on the quarter mile isn't as impressive as saying my car does 13.5 N/A. Dunno, but I think forced induction is the cheap way out... But im sure plenty of people on here will have their say about that lol.
Cheers

some ppl are lucky and in the know and can get better results for alot less. for those who dont know anyone and arent as technically advanced as perhaps they'd wanna be, they have the likes of jim mock.
whether u like it or not jim mock has done some r&d and has packages which reputedly do work. there is definitely room for him in the marketplace as his success has proven itself. his systems may not(in some of your opinions) be the best out there but it's ideal for the blokes who range from "cant tell the difference between a dial indicator and a phillips" to the "i could probably do it myself but cant be stuffed mucking around". also his systems still provide reliability and longevity. how many turbo kits do that? i myself would never use his stuff cos i like to think i slide into the "have a crack myself" category and even just to buy the parts alone i think are a bit rich but it doesnt mean i would knock anyone who did and now for clichè corner: speed costs money - how fast can u afford? anything cheap isnt reliable - anything reliable isnt fast - anything fast isnt cheap the bitter taste of a job gone wrong long outlasts the sweetness of the cheap initial price p.s. that sig with the upshirt view of the titties does it for me. good enough reason to come here i reckon .
