i got a redback exaust on my el xr6, 2 1/2 cat back with only 1 muffler and resanator, its not as loud as i wanted it to be and i didnt notice any peformance gain, you wont even notice that i have a sports exaust unless i pust it past 3000rpm, and any one else got a redback exaust and is it as bad as mine?

i have an i6 with a 2 1/2 inch zorst with 1 muffler and resonator and its not very loud 2. As far as i know u need to take out the resonator to get the sound that u want.

Welcome to the wonderful world of EPA compliant exhaust systems.
On the xr6 you honestly will get next to no performance gain from just a cat back, you need extractors too.
If you want a louder note take out the resonator, it still won't be as loud as a lukey though (my lukey is 102db, my old redback on the xr was 95db), as the lukey's central muffler is made differently (cheaply made though).

The whole point of a rear resonator is to tone down the volume, so take it back and get rid of it (claim that you asked for no resonator and you've since found out it had one, see if you can get it for nothign) and you'll notice an increase in volume. Get extractors to complete the sound.

i had the same redback setup as you on my EL and yes it will be much louder without the resinator but the quality of sound will be pretty ordinary i also found that i didnt want my exhaust to be really loud at some stages, eg police

u dont want it too loud...i got f**k over by the EPA .. my exhaust wasnt even that loud! *cries*

but extractors will allow ur engine to breath and will give u a bit of a kick

I had the same setup as you buddy, got home and couldn't really notice any sound improvement.

2 weeks later got the resinator cut off and now it sounds bloody awesome. When the exhaust fitter lowered the car off the hoist and started the engine.

I said to myself "now that's what i'm talking about"

Cost $60? all up to get it removed and a new 2.5in section put in.

Makesure you tell them to stick the resinator in your boot, just incase cops all epa hassle you down the track.

Stop whinging and get the rear resonator taken off and put extractors on, forget about the cat, if you want a higher flowing cat get an au one, they flow a bit better.
You keep whining and it's only a matter of time before the v8 guys start making fun of you for wanting to make a 6 noise louder.
