Davies, Craig’s EWP® Cooling Technologies are part of the next generation of development in engine thermal management. Electronics and new technologies are now playing a greater role in cooling internal combustion engines, hybrids and electric vehicles, and they are delivering results that are hard to ignore. Engine cooling technologies are now being more closely examined and sophisticated new cooling systems enable the internal combustion engine to operate at higher temperatures with far greater efficiency. anything that puts load on the engine ie aircon, clutch fans, power steering, water pump etc being taken off will result in a gain. They require drive from the engine to work, and taking them off will ease that load. Call me adventurous, but Im actually quite keen to give the electro pump a go one day. Technology advances, and the only reason they made it so the pump was engine driven was because the technology in alternators and electro pumps wernt viable in performance reliability and cost. Id imagine that would be different nowdays with the possible exception of cost for factory cars.
sticking the boot into a normal engine means the accesories are getting the same treatment. I know, a blockage in the radiator + a quick drop and squirt on the highway on the bendigo cruise = one blown out radiator. My bro's ef had a waterpump you could barely turn by hand after we replaced it, as it had been flogged out. with the right belt setup I wouldnt be afraid to use one, its just australian to stick to the tried and true, new tech always trickles down slowly in this country. remember our ford sixes were single cam till the VCT XR6... I wonder if there was the same resistence to change when people started refitting older clutch fan engines with thermo's * oh i dunno billy bob, maybe it wont make enough e-lektrisity and we gone dang blow up!* and can we stfu about the power outputs/vs mods done? this isnt an arguement wether or not this car makes said 150rwkw (maybe doesnt know all the mods) is a discusion about the validity of electro water pumps. This is how most threads end up, starts out usefull, then ends up everyone bagging everyone out about how BS dunb douchebag they are.

hiya, just been reading though this thread, and have had a look at the craig davis pumps,
Do the ones that come from your 4.0ltr motor, you it was meantioned in a EB, how does it mount on?? and is there a pulley on it?? I can guess in the EB if it had the three belts setup, you could bypass the water pump with just a smaller fan belt, to the alternator, But how would it be done on the 1 belt cars? ef ontowards?? the electric water pump does not have a pulley that's why you gain the extra power less load on the engine. im not to sure if it keeps the engine cooler or not so maybe that factor makes it faster.

I would give an electric one a shot for 7kw... I'd also wire it up so the engine died if the pump did, no risk of failure damage then.
Electric motors can last a bloody long time if they are well made and well designed. Quite a bit longer than a fan belt I'd guess and with exactly the same result if one lets go. My cars are Ghia's and if the engine temp goes up.. I get all manner of beeping coming from the dash.. (I know because I lost a fan belt not long ago.) hard to miss that. We trust thermo's to keep our radiator cool too, they are a 15 year old design and manufacture.. and they last a pretty long time also. rgds Frank Last edited by frankieh on Thu Mar 19, 2009 1:04 am, edited 1 time in total. |

I use an electric coolant pump for my Photon Pulse drive reactor engine in conjunction with a Flux-capacitor for time travel functions..........................LOL.........
