hey guys just wondering if anyone could shed some light, the other day the alternator died in my eb series 2 6cyl, then i replaced the battery. it was ok for a bit then at night i went to get dinner and the car died, i thought it would be the alternator so i went and got it swapped. so today it was all good, then i went to go for a drive to the shops got to the shops and the car died. so basically i can jump start the car but once the lights get turned on it dies. so just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be?
cheers.. |

well thats what i was thinking, but during the day the car is fine and thats with the cd player going but once the lights go on thats it only takes a couple of mins to start draining. and i dont know if this helps but about 30 secs before the car does die the check abs light comes on.

well seems only too obvious to have a good chek over the light wiring for faults or if any wiring has rubbed on the body and is earthing.

Alternator belt is loose or worn out, check the tension on the belt by pushing a screwdriver down on the belt. Should not move much.....1/2 inch at the most....

Usually if you have a dead alternator, it will kill the battery pretty quick, and usually if you have a dead battery, it will kill the alternator pretty quick, so Basically, if the alternator dies, it will kill the battery, and when you fit a new battery whilst you still have a dead alternator, it will kill the battery and alternernator, so it's best to replace both together I have found.
