I've got an AU2 futura and i had a drive the other day of an FG xr6.
Can't say i'm a fan of the electronic throttle..... That poofteenth of second delay is fairly noticeable after getting out of my car..... A mate of mine who just bought a new Corolla said he hasn't gotten used to the throttle in that yet, though it does say in the handbook that it needs to be adjusted after 30,000kms. Can they be adjusted to become more responsive? Thoughts? Opinions?

being electronic it can probably adjusted with a tune.
can't say i've noticed a delay with any BA/BF I've driven, if anything the one in mine is too sensitive for the first bit of travel, exaggerates the backlash in the driveline.

Ah k
Another thing i forgot to mention is that in my mate's corolla the throttle is not only delayed in engaging, but is also delayed in DIS-engaging... ie throttle stays open for a fraction AFTER he takes his foot off the pedal. He reckons he probably wouldn't notice it as much if it weren't a Manual transmission...

There's different factory settings, normals (inc. the n/a XR6) get the worst sensitivity. XR's get better, and FPV's get the best, while there's still some not so much delay, but non-linear response. I've got the GT-P setup with a 1:1 linear response, and no delay. Works great.

Yeah after getting out the FGs at work (G6s and XR6s) and into my XR8 I definitely notice the delay in throttle response. Commodores and Aurions feel much the same also.

i agree with it being too sensitive too early and aggrevating backlash, particularly in 1st. i'm not impressed with my ETC but at the end of the day i don't have to worry bout it jamming/snapping. just more electrical demons to hassle me later lol and could be improved with a tune.
but i have noticed, now that i've been driving the car for over 10,000k's, that it does tend to make adjustments to throttle position without moving your foot, like having it kick back a tiny bit in 4th almost feels like it's going back to 3.5 gear lol just kicks the throttle open a little bit more if your foots down and you encounter a hill or similar. hard to explain. i'm still getting used to it throwing back gears on me de-accelerating down a hill lol

I can't remember where I seen it but there was someone making a little black box to plug inline with your throttle wiring, boosts the voltage or something i dont actually know.
Along with the SS inductions throttle body with the you beaut scissor gears it's all sposed to make it snap like an old school carb. I was keen on it all, but as mentioned... a decent tune and it isnt really noticeable like it was. |

As with the commodores I tend to agree. Last year my car was being repaired after someone reversed into the door whilst it was parked out the front of my house. Anyway the courtesy car they provided me happened to be a VE Omega.... Possibly the sloppiest, most unresponsive thing I've ever had the privelidge of driving. data_mine wrote: Yes, a tune can adjust them. Mine is very sensitive in response after it got edit. one thing I've also noticed afterwards when I leave it in sports mode is if I jab the pedal quickly whiles going down hills, it kicks down and locks in 2nd until I jab the pedal again when I reach the bottom. either the auto is confuse or it's about to blow into millions of pieces. it's due for it anyway!
